Budding pilot
Stellan Dobson's (Y11) father's best friend, Neil, has been a pilot for many years, and Stellan became interested in flying as a result. Like Neil, Stellan's interested in flying started at a very early age.
Stellan has visited Neil on many occasions and has helped Neil when working on the planes in his hangar. He has also been taken on many flights by Neil.
A few years ago, Stellan took up flying lessons in order to secure his Private Pilot Licence. Stellan works hard after school and at weekends in order to raise funds for his flying lessons, which are obviously costly.
Mum said she is very proud of Stellan on two levels:
(1) for his commitment to flying by way of his funding his flying lessons by working after school and at weekends
(2) for his unwavering commitment to achieving the ultimate goal of gaining his pilot's licence by taking flying lessons every weekend.
It is fantastic to watch Stellan grow in confidence as his pilot lessons progress, and also to watch his development socially as he mixes with, and deals with, members of the public as part of the jobs he does outside of school.
Mum feels that all this combines to make him the interesting, well-rounded, adjusted and lovely young man he is!
Well done Stellan - we can't wait to hear more about how you progress on your journey!!
