Cansat Competition 2025

Breaking News! 🚀

We’re excited to announce that a group of our talented Year 10 students have been selected for the National Finals of the 2024-2025 Cansat competition after their outstanding performance in the Regional Championships! 🏆🌟

These young innovators have demonstrated incredible skills, teamwork, and dedication in designing and launching their satellite prototype. The Cansat competition challenges students to push the boundaries of science, engineering, and problem-solving – and our students have proven they’re up for the challenge! 🎓🛰️

Their next exciting steps? On 31st March 2025, they’ll be launching their prototype at the Snowdonia Space Centre, followed by the National Finals in York between 29th April and 1st May! 🌍🚀

Congratulations to the team for this amazing achievement – we can’t wait to see what they accomplish next as they continue to reach for the stars! 🌠

The Cansat competitor is an annual student design-build-launch competition for space-related topics. Although similar competitions exist for other fields of engineering (robots, radio-control airplanes, racing cars, etc.), most space-related competitions are paper design competitions. However, this competition gives students the satisfaction of being involved with the end-to-end life cycle of a complex engineering project, from conceptual design, through integration and test, actual operation of the system and concluding with a post-mission summary and debrief.  Teams must be able to design and build a space-type system, following the approved competition guide, and then compete against each other  to determine the overall winners. Good luck to Team Malbank
